Membership disclosure & responsibilities

As a member of the National Firearms Association Bahamas, you understand and acknowledge that firearms can cause serious harm if they are not used and handled properly. By becoming a member, you agree that you will at all times:

Obey the law. Comply fully with the Firearms Act and all other laws and regulations of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas, including those governing the licensing, registration, storage, transport and use of firearms and ammunition.

Put safety first. Handle and use firearms safely and responsibly, following sound safety practices to reduce the risk of injury to people and damage to property.

Respect law enforcement. Treat officers of the Royal Bahamas Police Force and all other law enforcement and regulatory authorities with courtesy and respect, and cooperate fully with all lawful requests, inspections and instructions.

Store firearms securely. Keep firearms and ammunition secured and out of reach of unauthorized persons, especially children.

Promote responsible ownership. Encourage safe, ethical and lawful firearm practices among fellow members and the wider community.

Firearm safety rules

All members must observe the following rules at all times:

• Treat every firearm as if it were loaded.
• Always keep the firearm pointed in a safe direction and never at another person.
• Keep your finger off the trigger and outside the trigger guard until you are ready to fire.
• Never hand a firearm to another person without first opening the cylinder or action and keeping it open to verify that the firearm is unloaded.
• Always wear appropriate eye and hearing protection.
• Always follow the instructions of the Range Master and instructors.
• The Range Master and instructors may inspect your firearms and ammunition at any time during training sessions and may prohibit their use if deemed necessary.
• Smoking, eating and drinking are prohibited while handling or using a firearm.
• Never use a firearm while under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and never permit anyone who appears to be under the influence to handle or use a firearm.
• Be responsible in the carrying, use and storage of your firearm.

Membership dues

Membership dues are due and payable on the one (1) year anniversary date of membership.

To project a Professional Image of a responsible firearm owner and create a Reputable Brand of the N.F.A.B on a National level.

Our mission

The promotion and encouragement of firearms safety and knowledge amongst the citizens of the Bahamas. With a view toward the importance and benefits of firearms ownership for a better understanding of the safe use, handling, marksmanship, proper care and storage of firearms & importance of law and abiding by it, through proper training, policies and certification standards. To support and defend the rights of properly licensed firearms owners in the Bahamas. By educating the public and keeping our representatives informed of statutory duties and responsibilities and forward the development of those characteristics of honesty, good solidarity, self-discipline and fair play which are the essentials of good sportsmanship in all firearm related activities.

To foster the development of public firearm safety by providing training opportunities, with comprehensive educational programs that will become the premiere all-encompassing training standards and certifications in the Bahamas.
