The Instructor Led course place in a traditional classroom and range environment. This course may be completed in a single day format or over several days with smaller blocks of instruction. The Basics of Pistol Shooting Course is intended for all individuals regardless of previous shooting experience.

Course topics include: firearm safety rules, proper operation of revolvers and semi-automatic pistols, ammunition knowledge and selection, pistol selection and storage, shooting fundamentals, pistol inspection and maintenance, marksmanship, and shooting range safety. Additionally, students will complete live fire training and a nationally standardized shooting qualification while on the range with an NRA/NFAB Certified Instructor.

Required equipment: (Contact us about any equipment you may not have)

• Hearing Protection - (if you don't have - will be provided for use during course)

• Eye Protection (if you don't have - will be provided for use during course)

• Billed Hat (baseball cap or similar style)

• Sturdy Footwear (closed toe boots/athletic shoes/tennis – no open toe shoes/sandals/flip-flops)

• Crew Neck Style Shirts (short or long sleeve – no tank tops or low cut shirts)

• Appropriate Weather Clothing/Gear

• Your Licensed Pistol/Handgun, unloaded and encased

• Government Issued I.D + Firearm License

• A rigid, strong side holster designed to be worn inside or outside the waistband

• 100 rounds of ammunition

• Two - Three magazines (speed loaders for revolvers)

• Magazine Holder/Pouch

• Cleaning Kit (specific to the shotgun being used)

• Food/Snacks (lunch/breaks)

• Water/Sports Drink (for the duration of the course)

• Note Taking Materials

Frequently asked questions

What is the requirement for the pistol course in the Bahamas ?

You must have a special firearms license for a pistol registered to you in The Bahamas. Complete the NFAB registration process and pay the course fee.

How long does it take to complete the course?

The course takes approximately 8 - 10 hours to complete both theory and practical segments. With exams at the end of each segment. You have up to 1 week to re-take your theory exam if you fail the first time.

How do I receive my certificate?

Once you complete the course you and take the exam, you must score 90% in order to receive your certificate. If you do not pass the exam on your first try – RELAX! You will have 3 additional opportunities to retake the exam and pass.

How much does it cost?

The cost for the course is $125.00 for members $175.00 for non-members. You must be approved and registered to take this course. This course is non-refundable.

Is this course a NRA certification course?

YES... All our courses are taught by NRA Certified Instructors. Which means you can receive a NRA certification once you pass and complete the course.

Is the CCW course internationally certified?

Our CCW Certification curriculum, also known as the Concealed Carry certification. Meets the requirements for obtaining a concealed carry permit or license in North America & Canada. Since each state's concealed carry permit requirements differ, we always encourage students to confirm with the specific state of any additional requirements.

Where are your instructors trained?

Instructors are international training and certified by organization like the NRA, EUSA, US federal government & UK special forces ‘at-arms” programs. They possess and demonstrate a solid background in firearm safety and shooting skills acquired through training and hands-on shooting experience. Instructors complete many hours of training on the range and in the classroom an are intimately familiar with each firearm type in the discipline they are certified.

We are also developing a local instructor training programs for Bahamian wishing to develop their skills as Range Safety Officers, Firearms Coach & Instructors.

Is the instructor NRA Certified?

Yes.. This course is taught by an NRA-certified international instructor. All NRA instructors are registered on the NRA website, and you can confirm the instructor's credentials. Simply ask for verification.
